UPDATE 5/28/2011:

Because there is now a timeline for Bella’s treatment, Paige at CorgiPals is going to end her fundraising campaign on Monday 5/30 so Bella’s family can receive the donated money ASAP.

The fund is open to donations until then:  you can donate via the ChipIn box on the CorgiPals page.  Also, remember that your purchases at The Daily Corgi’s cafepress shop will continue to generate 100% of commissions for Bella (through Thursday 6/2), and 25% of commissions on amazon.com products purchased through The Daily Corgi’s blog will also benefit Bella, through Tuesday 5/31.

By now you’re familiar with Bella, the lovely Pembroke with trigeminal neuralgia and a mass of unknown origin in her abdomen. 

Here’s the GOOD NEWS:  In four short days, Paige’s CorgiPals campaign has raised $2,080 for Bella’s diagnosis and care.  I know — AMAZING, huh?!

Because people have been so kind and quick to respond, Paige is upping the goal to meet the vet’s full estimate of $3,500.  From today’s update on CorgiPals:  “Recall that Bella’s neurologist is recommending a battery of tests to rule out cancers and blood diseases, with a bill of about $2000-$3500. I set the original goal at the bare minimum, but since we blew that out of the water in only four days, I think it’s appropriate to try for the full amount.”

CorgiPals has one mission:  to give a voice to Corgis in need.  I believe Paige is succeeding beautifully in this, and am really proud of what this dynamo is doing to make a difference for the dogs.  She’s a force of nature! 

All of this shows that even in a world as complicated and chaotic as ours can sometimes be, a little love and effort really can go a long way.

If you’d like to get creative to raise a few bucks for Bella, the Memorial Day weekend might be just the right time to set up that yard sale, lemonade stand or Corgi Kisses booth (OK, that last one is a bit of a stretch).  I’d personally patronize a Corgi Kisses booth, but the long line forming behind me might get annoyed at the wait, as I have my face repeatedly licked
;-).

Please continue to spread the word about Bella’s fund, via facebook, e-mail, twitter and any other social networking sites you may use.  Hey, there’s even the telephone, and good old fashioned word of mouth.

Don’t forget that right now, 100% of all commissions from sales at The Daily Corgi’s cafepress shop, and 25% of commisions on amazon.com orders placed through the blog ’til May 31st will directly benefit Bella!
