Hold on to your Kongs, all next week The Daily Corgi will be dedicated to those wonderfully woof-tastic Cardigan Welsh Corgis!

The last time I hosted a Cardigan Convention, in September of 2010 (posts here), I got a tremendous response from readers eager to share photos of their Cardigans. It was a real hit, and a terrific opportunity to show the world how excellent this lesser known breed of Corgis truly is. (In 2011, there was a one-day Cardi-Palooza event to shine the spotlight again on these low-riders).
Yes, Cardigans are the ones with the naturally long tails that don’t get docked … but there’s SO much more to them than that, including their very own history. They’re not just bigger Corgis, they are a separate breed from the Pembroke. Still Corgis, but standing tall (or not-so-tall) in their own right. btw — I happen to think Cardigan behinds are also mighty appealing, as much as the Pems, just with the added bonus of a lively, bushy tail :-). And usually pretty huge ears. And generally different personalities than Pems.

So if you’ve got photos, videos, blogs and anecdotes to share about your Cardigan Welsh Corgi, drop me a line: thedailycorgi@gmail.com. You might just see your dog grace the pages of the blog next week. Send your best material! Please note: if your dog has showed up previously on Cardigan Convention week (or Cardi-Palooza Day), please send a different photo, as I will not be able to run the same one twice because of space constraints.
L to R: Phoebe, Tuli, Moose and Marg
Thanks all, and Cardi ON!
