Catching Up with CorgiPals: Setbacks and Successes

Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to my ninth weekly guest spot on The
Daily Corgi! I am your host Paige K. Davis, founder of CorgiPals. As you know, every week I’ll be doing a guest post to keep you up to snuff with the goings-on in the CorgiPals world. This week’s theme: Setbacks and Successes!

First, as you know, the winners of the 2013 CorgiPals Corgi Lingo Calendar Contest were announced last week. The calendar is now officially for sale on our CafePress Shop! The digital version will also be available for $5 sometime next week. Get yours today!

Second, I’d like to share a fabulous update on one of our repeat CorgiPals clients. Back in August, I received an email about sweet Maggie the 2 year old Pembroke that was saved from being shot at age four months. The breeder’s husband was going to shoot her because she had been leaking urine from birth. Thankfully, Corgi Parents Mary and Kent stepped in and gave Maggie a loving home. She was diagnosed with double ectopic ureters and the problem was corrected. She no longer had to wear doggy diapers! Recently, however, Maggie was diagnosed with leptospirosis and she now has to have her bladder expressed manually. The good news is this: she’s not having accidents anymore. She also recently got to have a VERY special moment with her mom. Can you believe that Maggie had never sat in someone’s lap and been cuddled due to her urine leaking problem? Well, she hit that milestone this week and LOVED IT! Click on picture below of Maggie and her vet team to learn how you can help us raise the remaining $1,359 for this sweet girl.

Finally, I’d like to introduce you to Sydney, whom many of you know via her Corgi Mom Michele on Facebook. Sydney recently became very ill due to Canine Cranial Vena Caval Syndrome. She has been extremely ill for weeks now, and has wracked up around $10,000 in veterinary bills to cover diagnosis, open heart surgery, follow up visits, overnight stays, and medications. This little girl is extremely brave… and so is her mom. Michele has never once thought of giving up, and has continued to fight for Sydney’s life with the strength of a thousand men. Unfortunately, her wallet doesn’t go that deep. While she’s been able to raise over $1,500 on her own, she still needs help with the rest. The financial cap for aid via CorgiPals is $5,000, which means even after we reach her goal, she’ll still need help. So please spread the word for Sydney!

Oh, and one more thing. I have a huge announcement: Since our inception in May 2011, we have raised $70,000 for Corgis in need!!! You guys are so amazing and supportive, it’s beyond words! I can’t thank you enough for sharing this journey with me.
