Red and white senior Cardigan Chief (Ch Coedwig’s Gold Leaf) lives the good life with his folks in Federal Way, Washington, where he owns his own Jaguar (read about it here) and enjoys his days as Master of Leisure Arts after a fine career as a stud and show dog.
In June of this year he turned nine, and of course a cake was had in his honor. No word on hats and candles, but one can assume the obvious.
Chief is particularly fond of the Corgi pastime of sleeping. Look at that form! All four legs relaxed, head back and breeze blowin’ on the belly. Of course, with the recent record high-temps in the Pacific Northwest, he has had more than enough practical reason to perfect his art.
In fact, he’s so good at it that he appeared on the Seattlest.com site in full-on snooze mode in October of 2008! Unbeknownst to him, he was completely irresistible. (Yeah, right).
(Cue the sound of air kisses in Chief’s general direction).
When he isn’t sleeping, Chief occasionally fraps, drools a la Pavlov at the breakfast hour, adores his Mom J. and does his best to ensure she doesn’t go anywhere without him. He is a BIG fan of his squeaky toys. The Scooba? Well, maybe not so much. After all, Corgis do not GET herded, they herd.
Got it, drip?
Chief votes naps over walks any day of the week, and ensures that his several beds get regular rotation. Oh, his luxury kennel in the living room, too.
“Sigh”. Retirement can be so tiring!* * *Welcome to the Daily Corgi, Chief!

I thought that face and sleeping form looked familiar. He is a grandson to my boy, Sam (Ch Yardican Roland). Sam just celebrated a big birthday too (May 31). He turned 13 years young! He celebrated with a major Cardi Party – 16 Cardigans, ranging in age from 9 weeks to Sam's 13 years. Happy birthday Chief!
