Bentley & Penny

Pembrokes Bentley and Penny live the good life at River’s End Farm on California’s Mendocino Coast with their three cats and devoted Mom and Dad.

2 Corgis + 1 cat = happiness.

Tuxedo’d Ripley loves hanging out with the dogs. It doesn’t hurt that she gets regular Corgi face and ear washes.

Because she loves the dogs, Sue says Ripley (named for the character in ‘Alien’) can do no wrong, “except for coming in from the outside with soaking wet fur and icy paw pads, then standing on your chest when you’re in bed, ready for sleep.”

Ahhh, yes. Classic feline behavior. It’s lucky for them they are so cute.

I’ve got a fever for the flavor of a belly!

One and a half year-old Bentley loves to play so much, they got him a baby sister in Penny. Oh boy, do they have a blast together! Once she arrived, he discovered the delights of puppy food (when it’s in her bowl. Of course).

I see London, I see France, I see Bentley’s Corgi pants.

Bentley is studying tracking, and doing very well. His favorite athletic sport is log-running. There are lots of downed trees in our forest and the one we go for walks in, and Bentley scampers along every one he comes to. He has learned that you don’t go too far up a log that is leaning on something and getting further from the ground. Hard to turn when you have such a long wheelbase!

I like it here … think I’ll stay.

Little “sister” Penny is nearly 8 months old. “We got Penny at four months old, from a family whose little boy didn’t like the competition! She is a lovely girl, and fits in very well in our family. Penny is a sniffer; on walks in the woods, she is often left behind as she follows the trail of one or other spiffy scent, then she races to catch up.”

(Lots of R&R required between such strenuous pursuits).

“Penny is a snuggler, always up for cuddling. Living with Bentley, her wrestling skills have improved dramatically, and she can hold her own against a big brother nearly twice her size, although he does tone it down when playing with his little puppy sidekick.”

Penny would love to get into wood carving, but for some reason this is discouraged, and she will settle for a rawhide bone.

Of course, they taste much better when they’re stolen from Bentley.

Extracurricular activities:

“This was the Corgi entry in the Lighted Truck Parade, held every Christmas time in Fort Bragg, CA. I am in the blue jacket, with Penny and Bentley. The crowds loved the Corgis!”

Heck, yeah!
