Georgie

Proud Dad Steve B. wrote to The Daily Corgi about his five year-old girl Georgie.

I’m Dad’s favorite.

Georgie was supposed to be a George! “I had the name picked out before she was born” explains Steve. “I wanted a male and had the name George ready, but when the litter was all girls I figured Georgie — as in the movie ‘Georgie Girl’ — would still be fine.”

“My sister-in-law Lesley was breeding Corgis at the time, so it was a natural choice. As a puppy I picked her from the litter because she is the one that held back and gave me an intelligent look as the other pups were scrambling and falling over themselves for attention. Her look of intelligence even today is almost scary. Georgie is an incredibly smart dog.”

“Lesley is no longer breeding them but has five, and Georgie often goes over to visit with her sisters and Mother so she is well socialized.”

“Georgie had to go through extensive neurosurgery as a pup. She loved to bounce with the rope being tugged and it damaged her pads, which can happen with Corgis. The poor thing had major surgery to correct the problem as her leg was growing in crooked. Georgie was easy to raise and never got into trouble. I don’t think she ever even chewed up a single thing except her chew toys.”

“Georgie is with me 24/7 and since I’m an landscape painter she’ll usually go along with me as my companion when I’m out painting in the field. Now if I could only get her to carry some of my equipment I’d really be lucky.”

Georgie

I’m a Welsh Corgi
And my name is Georgie
I sure am glad
I live with my two Dads

They say I’m beautiful
And not the least bit bashful
That I love my food
I’m a Corgi, it’s not rude!

We go to the coast
Where the Inn Keeper is a good host
When we go to the beach
Everyone says “Oh, what a peach!”

I have a playmate
He will alway takes the bait
They tell me he’s a cat
Sometimes I think he is just a brat

My life is so great
My dinner’s never late
Boy, I sure am glad
I live with my two Dads
