Michigan Pembrokes Andy and Amber Lee are the seventh and eighth Corgis to brighten the lives of Larry and Linda M.
They have a cat brother named Atticus and a cat sister named Savannah, and they are “the sweetest, most gentle of siblings” writes Mom Linda.
“Our first Corgi was Teddy in 1966, then Panda, Kodi, Soccer, Kevin and Piper. Teddy, Soccer and Piper were red/white. Kodi was a sable and Kevin and Piper were tri’s. I’ve never had one live past fourteen but I’m still hopeful. Tasha Tudor had Old Mrs Pups for nineteen years.”
“Amber Lee is nearly a copy of Piper, the female we had before her. Everyone mistakenly calls her Piper, but she doesn’t seem to mind. Piper was a wonderful girl. It makes me think that Piper left her incarnation in March and Amber Lee was born into a litter in April seven years ago because she wanted another dog life with us in the form of Amber Lee.
We weren’t even looking for another dog but Amber’s breeder met Andy’s breeder at a dog show and got to talking. Amber’s breeder (who was also Piper’s breeder) showed up at my door unannounced, handed me the leash and said ‘this is the perfect dog for you.’ She was precisely right.”
“Andy will be eight in July. He is my heart dog. My husband says that if he and Andy were drowning and I could only save one … well. (Not true, but it makes a good story.) I don’t believe in coincidences. I think Andy and I were meant to be together; too many things happened to make it so. When we checked in with our vet when we first got him, everybody in the waiting room and the vet asked if he was my service dog because he never takes his eyes off me. (I use a power wheelchair). We are in love.
Andy is a gorgeous Corgi (he knows it and loves to be photographed) but he has food allergies and his breeder is too good to pass on anything like that.”
“Andy is our laid back “whatever” dog and Amber just has to be in-your-face and first. They fit beautifully.”
At the back door … can we come in now?
“We love to go to the Michigan Corgi Picnic every August not far from us here in the Detroit area.”
Sounds like lots of fun … can we come too?
