Four year-old Dixie (a.k.a. Dixie Doodles or “Miss Doodles”) introduced her Mom Monica to the world of Corgi rescue and re-homing.
Dixie giving and getting some lovin’s!
“We got Dixie at a 4H Petting Zoo, where a lady with a shopping cart full of four month-old Corgi puppies was having a “Clearance Sale”, as she called it. Her male and female had gotten together “accidentally” and Dixie was the unwanted runt of the litter.”
“We found her IRRESISTIBLE!”
“As Dixie grew, we brought her back to the farm store where the woman worked so she could see Dixie, and after a while of conversing with the woman, I realized she was one of the puppy mill breeders we hear about so often.”
“That realization prompted me to contact Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Rescue, to see what I could do to assist in re-homing Welsh Corgis in need.”
“This sparked the start of my on-line etsy shop “Classy Chassy“, which donates a percentage of sales each month to Lakeshore’s rescue fund. Their rescue site features a link to the shop, which offers a range of Corgi and canine themed items.”
“Funny how acquiring a Corgi can change the direction of your life, isn’t it?”
Monica was one of several Daily Corgi readers who donated a variety of cool prizes for The Daily Corgi’s Great Corgi-licious Giveway. (Thanks again, Monica!)
“Dixie is a very loving girl and tries hard to anticipate pleasing me. It took a little while for her to “settle down” and get bored enough for me to get these shots with Sweet Pea!”
Being THIS cute is hard work. Downright exhausting, in fact!
Kelly S. selected Dixie’s picture for the month of April in this year’s “Corgis with Blogs” calendar. It’s certainly fitting, with Sweet Pea as the Easter Bunny!

Thanks so much for featuring Dixie today, and for your kind mention of Lakeshore's wonderful group of caring volunteers! These people work so hard, from the director to foster homes, and needed transport crew, to take in (and sometimes rehabilitate) this wonderful breed of dog! And heart-felt thanks, too, for your link to my etsy shop – it allows me to help support their on-going work in the rescue with each purchase that is made!

Dixie is so cute! The pix with the bunny are so sweet. We got Sophie from Lakeshore, too. Through a strange series of coincidences, she jumped into our family at just the right time after we had decided to start looking for another corgi after the passing of our first corgi girl. Thanks again Lakeshore!

Miss Dixie Doodles is such a cutie! What a wonderful thing her mom is doing to help the Lakeshore Corgi Rescue! I'm going to have to take a look at her Etsy Shop too!
Hugs,
Angela

The Lakeshore Corgi Rescue group is great. We almost took a rescue corgi from them but decided we really wanted a puppy we could shape from the start instead. When Winnie gets a little older we would totally consider fostering a dog with them.
