Carol R. brought my attention to a Pet Finder listing for this adoptable Pembroke at Floyd County Animal Control in Rome, Georgia.
Really, I’m tryin’ to be brave …
According to Pet Finder (and I am only quoting here), “This rural shelter is humane, but unfortunately must make room constantly for too many incoming pets. Vast numbers of pets are surrendered daily. This is a shelter that euthanizes once a week.”
Floyd County Animal Control is reachable via e-mail or phone and is open seven days a week (hours vary) except Wednedays.
… but it ain’t easy.
There are options on the Pet Finder site for posting this girl’s listing on your facebook page, as well as e-mailing to friends and “tweeting” it.
Thanks again for sharing, Carol R.

Now I’m off in search of my blood pressure meds … very few things brass me off as much as seeing a Corgi (or any pet!) in a kill shelter.
Be aware there is a Corgi Rescue Society here in Kennesaw that most likely has already stepped in. They get ALL Corgis at shelters in North Georgia.
Nonetheless… I shall call on Monday.
Can someone foster her??
We're in GA and would TOTALLY take this girl if we could š I'm praying for her!!
I just called the shelter. She is a cared-for dog with hip problems and was a stray. Appears to be healthy. She is NOT adoptable until Tuesday from 10 to 6. If she is NOT adopted that day, it's bad news. The lady I talked to is going to get back with me. They give first prioroity to adopters, then recuses. I will be doing something, if there is not someone to step up and give her a loving home before her time is up. I do nopt know how to fit here into our life, but we will if it turns out that way.
Is there a Corgi Rescue organization in Georgia that can rescue/foster her?
Yes… However I am often at odds with the gal that runs it. She and I have had words, and she actually denied me as an adoptee because I dared to let my Corgis outside. (Corgis are inside dogs, she insists. LOL….) For years we tried to get a Corgi locally, and found out whe was involved in every attempt and were denied. (Imagine someone like our family who has a history of 10 loving Corgis goiong back 42 years… being denied adoption or a breeder's dog.)
my heart goes out to this little girl and if Mark Curtis has been turned down, now I'm really concerned!!He's got a history like us with the breed and she needs all the help she can get.
I am sorry Mark ran into some roadblocks, sounds like there's a prickly bit of backstory there.
There are a lot of people expressing an interest in this Pemmie, many of whom have posted at TDC's facebook page: http://facebook.com/thedailycorgi.
They're making inquiries, direct contact with the folks at the shelter, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for something good out of this …
One way or another I'm hoping our little community can get that girl where she needs to be!

Well we tried to bring her home today but someone who already had several corgis got thier a few mins before we did and stood in front of the door so we where unable to even though we where thier 20 mins before they opened. we cried all the way home she is so beautiful. I am so upset that the other person could not be nice and let us take her he already had several. Im very depressed right now we wanted to cuddle with her. We already had her a new collar and everything
