“Brett loved her so much that he would plow a path around the field in the Winter (no mean feat!) so she could continue her daily excursions.”
“When Brett took Diva with him whenever he was working in the yard, she’d end up sitting in front of the door. He’d go over, let her back in the house, look at me and say “she wants to be with you.” When I’d be gone to a show (part of my business), he’d tell me when I got back “she’s just not happy when you’re not here.”
“This photo was taken after we’d had very large storm and I was shoveling a path into the chicken house. I stopped to take a break and looked behind me. Diva was just sitting there, watching me as if to say “You’re doing a great job Mom, keep it up!”

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine losing Max at such an early age.

oh i am so sorry to read this story…
Servo was our "once in a lifetime dog" and he went to the Bridge in April at 14 years old.
please know that he probably greeted Diva at the gate and welcomed her and showed her where all the best spots are for doing what Corgis do best: eating and frapping.

I would be a real mess if our Reba passed. Hope you find another one real soon to help you with your pain. Diva would want you to. She would not want you to be so sad.

Thank you for the courage in sharing your story. I know it takes a lot of you to tell it, but it's a story that needs to be told.

My heart goes out to you. I know how hard it is to lose your heart dog. When my Pete passed I whispered in his ear "If I am going to have another dog, you send him to me and I will know you sent him" Eight months later two rescue workers brought me Peanut not more than a week before my birthday. As I bent down to meet Peanut he put his paws on my knees and I said "Are you my dog?" He licked my hand and I knew Pete had sent him. Best wishes and know that someday Diva will be beside you again.

Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you…..
I loved you so —
'twas Heaven here with you."

there is nothing more special than to have loved and be loved by a "once in a lifetime dog." May God wrap his loving arms around you and help you through your sadness and loss – and know she is waiting for you.

No dog is ever replaceable, especially your heart dog, but thanks for sharing that wonderful story, and we wish for another beautiful happy healthy corgi or many more in your future.

Thank you for sharing this touching story. I teared up as I read it, as it reminded me of my journey with my first Corgi, Roxanne. Our time together was entirely too short (she was only 4). She began having seizures on Thanksgiving 2005 and by February she still was not responding to treatment. She went to the Bridge in mid-February 2006. She was a rescue and likely originated from either an irresponsible backyard breeder or a pet store. No matter, she was my first and she was the genesis of my love affair with this breed. When I finally got the courage to call a reputable breeder, she told me, Roxanne wouldn't want me to be so sad and that only when I could take all of that love and give it to another dog would my heart be healed. She was right. My boy Riley, healed my heart. I rescued Roxanne but Riley rescued me.
I now have TWO corgis and will NEVER have another breed. And I will only get my dogs from reputable, responsible breeders.
Thank you again for sharing Diane and Diva's story. Diva's life may have been short but WOW what a great life!

Diane: I'm so very sorry for your loss. I too lost one of my precious babies to cancer. In fact, I lost 3 of my Corgis in a 13 month period. It just about killed me. Luka was just 7 years old when I had to let him cross the Rainbow Bridge after a 7 month fight with Lymphoma. They told me I would have at most 4-6 weeks with him when he was diagnosed, but I was blessed to have 7 months. I think he just was not ready to go until that very end. My heart aches with you my friend. God Bless You and God Bless Miss Diva at Rainbow Bridge.
