Proud Corgi Mom Cassandra D. wrote to the Daily Corgi about Chopper, her eight month-old Pembroke in Neenah, Wisconsin.
He’s quite a character!
“My husband Jed and I waited for a long time to bring a dog into our lives and Chopper was an amazing fit. We named him Chopper after a favorite anime character. He is such a sassy, proud, sweet and happy dog (not a rabbit!)”
“On the ride home from his breeder’s house, our seven-week old puppy was content riding up front with my husband and friend, until he threw up on Jed and got banished to his kennel.”
“His favorite thing to do is go to training class. Chopper has had puppy class and is now in intermediate training and obedience courses. Our cats Lucas and Lilyan came around slowly with Chop.”
“To him, cats are the best toys in the world! They make strange noises and “play” by swatting. Lily now loves to run and romp with him.”
“Chopper also loves his miniature tennis balls, which he destroys with a quick squeak-ectomy, followed by peeling off yellow fuzz off. Forget fetch!”
“He loves snuggles with Mommy, playing with Daddy and a good romp around the dog park. Chopper is big for a Corgi, 26 pounds and growing. He’s already bigger than his sire.”
“Being a small breed dog doesn’t hold him back at the park though, as he can rough and tumble with the biggest dogs!”
“The only thing he hates is people on bikes and trash barrels. Both are unruly things that must be barked at and herded into place! Beware the bike hating Corgi!”
“If someone rattles the door handle outside or rings the bell, he will hop into my lap first and then start barking courageously. My little guy is sure full of sparks and spirit.”
“Chopper got to meet Ty Pennington when Extreme Home Makeover came to our neighborhood!”
“Chopper has changed my life and helped give my husband some patience. We can’t have kids, so he goes a long way to fill a large void in our lives. Chop is our first dog, and I can’t imagine a better or smarter breed. He is smart, sweet and incredibly loving; I couldn’t have asked for a better companion to share my life with!”
“I am so lucky to watch this wonderful boy grow up!”

What a cool story. I love the name, "Chopper." Anything to do with motorcycles? Or – is he aptly named because in the first picture – he looks like he has an incredible set of "choppers!" Corgis have the most amazing ability to make us happy. Unlike any dog I have ever owned. Enjoy him.

i laughed at the peeling of the tennis balls. my Servo would od that too. peel the fuzz off and then split the tennis balls into two halves. then he would carry the naked tennis ball around and play with THAT. i think its a Corgi thing. fuzzy tenni balls are NOT allowed!
CUTE Corgi too! what a SMILE he has!
