Diva of Nashville, Tennessee

“Every day I’m amazed more and more at the loveliness of the little puppy we named Diva” writes Judy Lyon. “She’s a little spitfire, so fun and full of herself too.”

“My little Diva was born in May, between my birthday and Mother’s Day and just a few days after all the floods that hit Tennessee. She was from a litter of seven puppies.”

 

“Two were girls and two were red and white. We were really hoping for a red and white because we have two other tri-color dogs:  Princess, a mix who has been with us for twelve years, and Cili, our first Pembroke Corgi who is also Diva’s dad.”

“We also felt that we needed to have another female in the house which — of course — meant that both the red and whites were male!”

“I have to admit that my first impression of the little puppy who became Diva was not all that good. She did not appear to have pretty markings; I thought both females were very plain compared to the males. We made several trips to see Diva and her sister and brothers. By the time her eyes were open, her personality began to grow on us.”

“She was very sure of herself but not bossy. She was always quick to come see us when we would visit but let the others all play too. And she had what we’ve found to be the typical Corgi ability to express an opinion — she was the first to find out she could bark! And bark she did!”

“We had thought about lots of names for a little red and white girl puppy, like “Penny” to celebrate her coppery coat, or “Rosy” because she was red and white like roses, but we were really at a loss for a name for this tri. At our next visit, it became obvious that this puppy was a Diva! When we called her name and clapped our hands in applause, she would run right to us! Since my business is a mobile day spa company and I like to refer to myself as a ‘Spa Diva’, it was just the perfect name.”

“When Diva came to live with us, she only had one ear up but was so cute. Her plainness began to vanish as she grew. She was quick to learn in her puppy training class and I am hoping we can do more with her, maybe some agility as Diva is a natural leaper.”

Yes, I’m a leaper … and a talented sleeper!

“My hope is for Diva to comfortably go everywhere with me. Princess has always been shy and Cili can be hard to control. Diva goes shopping with me and goes to our church to hang out when I’m there helping with stuff in the kitchen.”

“I am loving this little lady so much!
