Kathy and Bob D. had been looking for another Corgi since they lost their Corgi boy Reno a few years ago.
“My husband has Parkinson’s and is unsteady on his feet, so we needed a calm dog that wouldn’t knock him over or trip him” writes Kathy. “I had checked out a lot of dogs but didn’t find the right one until a couple of weeks ago.”
“I was watching the Panhandle Humane Society’s listings on facebook everyday and had gone over and looked at several dogs, but didn’t find the ‘one’ until February 17th. I checked at 10 am and no new dogs were listed, then checked again at 11 am and there was the cutest Corgi mix.”
“I took an early lunch and went right over to see her. She had come in as a stray a few days before and was just released for adoption. As soon as Sheena came out of the kennel I knew she was the right one. She was friendly, sweet as can be and came right over to say hi.”
“I picked her up and started to carry her to the front. It was kind of funny, the guy who was showing her to me asked ‘are you taking her?’ and I said “What does it look like, she’s perfect!”
“Sheena and I went to the office and got all the paperwork done, made her spaying appointment, got her micro-chipped and were out of there by 11:45. They said we broke the record for the fastest adoption! We headed home to meet the family, my husband, Bob, our older Corgi Kayci, and psycho-kitty, Bilbo Baggins.”
“Sheena was happy to see everyone. Kayci and Bilbo were fine until they figured out she was staying, then not so much.”
“She jumped right up on Bob’s lap … “
” … it’s been her favorite place ever since.”
“Sheena’s been a really good girl. She’s housebroken, will sit when asked, is very calm and loves everyone. She’s fond of stuffed toys and Kayci doesn’t mind sharing hers. We don’t know if she’s all Corgi or a mix; her tail isn’t docked so she looks different with the fluffy, waggy tail.”
“She hasn’t yet torn any stuffing out, but did kill at least one squeaky. She enjoys chasing bunnies and squirrels but most of all likes to be with her people.”
“Sheena is a great little dog and I’m glad we found her.”

She looks to be pure Corgi – and she is beautiful. Thank you for helping that pretty little girl out.

Rescue/adopted dogs are the best – they know they have it good!

It seems like you all came out winners on this one! She got a loving home, you got a loving Corgi! They truly love their peeps, and it's obvious she's quite content on your husband's lap getting belly rubs! Congrats to all y'all and many happy days together!

What a beautiful girl! I have 2 corgis that are pure-bred and they look just like her. Mine are always jumping up and trying to knock me over though.
