Macy of New York

 

Mary B. was the lucky winner of the “Corgis of Proud Spirit Sanctuary” giveaway, held in June.  If you missed this post about a very special place for rescued horses and dogs, click HERE to view it.

Turns out Mary B. is a Corgi Mom, and today is her Pem Macy’s day to shine!

 

“Macy was an Oklahoma Corgi. She was owned by Air Force personnel being deployed overseas. I offered to foster her while they were deployed, but they realized that future deployments were probable, and it would be best to give Macy a forever home. She missed her family greatly, but time and gentle persuasion — and a few treats, of course — convinced her there was another loving home for her.”

 

“Macy is a happy dog. She makes me laugh every day.  I love this picture because it shows her whiskers: black on one side of the muzzle and white on the other side. Cute!”

“Macy loves to play ball. She’ll bring her ball and drop it at my feet to say “Let’s play.” If I ignore her, she picks it up and drops it repeatedly. When Macy demands playtime, I must play ball or put the ball away where she can’t get it.”

“Macy is a cross-country traveler. She rode with me from Texas to New York and back to Texas in the Summer of 2010. Then in December of 2010 she again rode with me to New York, to our new home in the snow belt. I put a bed by the window so she could watch the neighborhood from on high.”

“The yard here is not fenced yet, so Macy and I do four walks a day. A fence is definitely in the plans.”

 

“If Macy’s not on the bed watching from the window, she’ll be on the deck on rodent patrol.  Keeping the squirrels from the deck and the bird feeders is her favorite job.”

“Macy is now five years old. She’s lived in three states and traveled to and through many more. She’s my best buddy. When I brought her into my home I also had Beatrice, a very senior Basset Hound, who has since crossed the rainbow bridge. I seem to like short-legged dogs!”
