Less than a week ago, the much beloved Baxter Valentine lost his brave battle with cancer.
Because nothing keeps a good Corgi Mom down, seasoned rescuer Anitra Francis (accompanied by her Secondhand Hounds compatriot Sarah Page) will soon be road tripping to Joplin, Missouri, where they’ll take 25-30 homeless dogs and puppies and bring them back to Minnesota. Foster homes stand ready to take them all in.
It’s Baxter’s Rescue Brigade!
Smilin’ Baxter Valentine
“I must continue on to live life the way Baxter would have wanted” says Anitra. “Ears forward, nose to the ground, and keep on truckin’ — and truck we will — with Baxter riding co-pilot!”
A generous donor has already pledged $200 towards the cost of the trip, estimated at $600. Our hero is calling on Corgi Nation to raise another $400 to help these dogs on the way to their happily-ever-afters.
Here’s a preview of the gang waiting on your help:
Will you donate $10 to sponsor one of these beauties and make their dreams come true? Visit the Secondhand Hounds Foster Resources facebook page, “Like” it, then click on the Baxter’s Rescue Brigade photo album to view each of these waiting waggers and find about more about them.
As Baxter’s Dad Bryan would say “Go BIG or go HOME!”
UPDATE at 9:10 PM (Eastern US): on Thanksgiving Day:
Giving has exceeded $950! The fundraiser has been extended, and any donations above the expense of the trip will be used to pay for vetting of these dogs, which typically runs $100-200 each.
