Imagine a day in the balmy Florida sun … in a resort surrounded by more than 200 Corgis and 400 of their people … hours of fun, frapping, fellowship and fundraising … sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?
Make that a dream come TRUE!
On Saturday, November 12th, Corgis and their people descended in droves on the Paradise Luxury Pet Resort in Palm Bay, Florida. They came to play, they came to party, and most of all they came with paws for the cause to raise $5,610 for CorgiAid and $785 for Sunshine Corgi Rescue.
You’ve gotta love it!
Facebook’s famous face Spark Plug (that’s his big grin on the banner) sold 2,000 raffle tickets for a ton of donated prizes, including Disney Tickets, a Kindle, an iPod Nano, and jewelry.
Kudos to the generous donors!
The auction for irresistible items brought in the bidders …
… no doubt the handmade CorgiPals hats by Paige Davis were among the most coveted items!
This gal won best female in the costume contest. Forget Toto, where’s the biscuits?
The male winner was a not-so-scary scarecrow. Big brain, big heart.
Kids and Corgis at play …
… doesn’t get any better than that!
In addition to the costume contest, prizes were awarded to largest and smallest Corgis, best trick, best “fluffy butt”, and of course biggest EARS.
Future biggest ears hopeful?
Florida’s Sunshine Corgi Rescue was on hand to answer questions and connect with new volunteers, foster homes, and perhaps a future owner or two of rescued Corgis.
Lunch was a delicious catered BBQ. (Any leftovers?)
How many Corgis do you think got “accidental” crumbs?
Cardis and their people proudly represented. Woot — Cardigans!
Smiles for miles.
Corgi corral! A little bit of heaven.
A whole lotta shakin’ going on … and barking. What would a good ol’ frap be without some noise?
Let them eat cake!
Thumbs (and ears) up to Celeste Miller, Judi Lundberg for the photos, the fantastic event volunteer staff and all those who joined in to make this the best and biggest Florida Corgi Picnic ever!
Next year’s picnic is scheduled for November 10th … mark your calendars.
Corgi On!
