Meet Cookie!
Two years ago, she and her Mom Jen E. found out that Cookie was facing a diagnosis of lymphosarcoma. “That day and the months that followed were a blur” writes Jen. “Since that time, I’ve managed Cookie’s illness “with a lot of love, in addition to nutritional, environmental and lifestyles changes. I know my life was extremely stressful at that time, and maybe this was God’s way of waking me up to what was really important. The Daily Corgi community poured out so much love, support and recommendations at a really rough time.”
“In March of this year, Cookie relapsed (low energy and personality changes). The vet confirmed that after 1 1/2 years of remission (following six months of low grade chemo), the cancer had spread to several lymph nodes in her body. She is on prednisone now and doing very well! Cookie’s energy changes day to day but her quirky personality is alive and kicking!”
“I am so blessed to have this little angel in my life. Cookie is breaking all the survival statistics. I would have never dreamed she would make it to her tenth birthday this month. Her love for life keeps me going everyday. Cookie is the sweetest, most loving, gentle, silly, intelligent and remarkable creature I have ever known.”
“If you or a loved one hears the dreaded news of cancer someday, reassure them that their pet can be around for a long time and live a happy normal life. Thank you to everyone who sent e-mails with love and encouragement two years ago. As I read those e-mails today, it amazes me how strangers took time and energy to reach out to me when I was utterly inconsolable and made the situation bearable. Thank you, thank you!!”
“Animal lovers really are the best kind of people on the planet!”
(I’ll second that, Jen! 🙂

Hashbrown's Mom says
I am so happy to read Cookie's story and to know that she is fighting the fight and beating the odds.
After a recent diagnosis of lymphoma and a short battle with this horrible disease, a week ago today, our beloved ten year old corgi Hashbrown left us to head to the Rainbow Bridge. He would have been 10 yrs and 5 months old today.
He taught us so much about life and unconditional love and we would not have traded our time with him for all the money in the world, even if we had known the end would come much too quickly.
The Corgi community is a loving supportive one and I'm proud to be a part of it. My husband & I plan to bring home a couple of corgi pups in the fall.
