Shortly after he made his Daily Corgi debut in January, Rio was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. New wheels have helped him keep his git’ along going!
Although his DM has progressed quickly and he’s lost almost all control of his legs, Rio celebrated his 12th birthday in May and taken lots of trips with his sister Ella.
“His cart works well for him on some days and some days it doesn’t” writes Colleen K. “Because I don’t live with Rio, I don’t see him everyday. When I do visit, I notice his condition worsening quite a bit. He does well with his cart when being trained with treats, but when left to himself he has a hard time pushing himself forward. Rio still vocalizes his desires and lets us know when he needs little boost to start moving.”
“We’re not sure how much more time we will have with him, but Rio is happy and not in pain.”
