“Six months later, he continues to live up to his big name. “Inky” always been the puppy who figured things out first. At five weeks old he figured out how to push the x-pen all over the living room, rallying his brothers and sisters and teaching them to work together at moving their “pen” anywhere! Imagine seven little Corgis moving three x-pens! Once he figured out the movement, it was easy to move wood piles and fireplace brooms too.”
“At twelve weeks, we started Lincoln in puppy manners class at our local Petsmart, and he will start advanced training soon. He is a dream to work with as he is very serious about his work. We joke that he is truly “honest Abe”! He’s fearless, and will try anything.”
“Just yesterday I was moving the teeter totter when he decided to climb on it. When I saw him, my first reaction was panic. Lincoln had no previous experience with the teeter, but I decided to just calmly approach him. He walked up the teeter, went over and walked down. Whew! Just to be safe, we moved the teeter totter so it won’t be an attractive nuisance.”
“He loves people, children and other dogs and has figured out that the Petsmart people who wear blue shirts are his best friend, probably because they have treats! One of his favorite blue shirted people has vowed to own two Corgis when they finish vet school: “One like Lincoln and one like Olathea!”
“Naming Olathea was very easy; we took one look at her and said you will be beautiful place — Olathea in Ojibwa. Where her brother is serious, she is full of fun. Her approach to life is “smile and the world smiles with you!” Or “don’t worry, be happy!”
“Princess O” too is a joy to work with as she thinks everything is the most fun ever. I swear, I ask her for something — say, Sit/Stay — and her response is sure no problem! Heeling? Sure!”
“I can’t help but smile every time I look at her joyful expressions!”
“Olathea began advanced training last week, and she too has excelled at all the requirements. Like Lincoln, she loves everyone and everything, but she especially likes one of the “blue shirts” who also doubles as a cashier. Olathea will wait patiently for her to be free and then heads right over to her station. We’ve been known to wait ten minutes, but Olathea is a patient girl.”
“She has the absolutely cutest Olathea wiggle when she wants petting. She lies on her side and wiggles her Olathea self right up to you. I defy anyone to not reach over and give her scritches.”
“They have recently developed a new Cardi caper: potato
theft. I keep potatoes in an open drawer, and they steal them left
and right. Initially I thought I would move the articles up a
level, but decided in the grand scheme of things … potatoes are
cheap. The rest of the crew have stolen much more expensive items — laptop keyboards, glasses, iphones, etc. So I went and bought bought a cheap bag of stealable potatoes, and put the slightly more valuable organic potatoes up a level!”
moms need sleep. They each choose several toys to take to our bed, then
wait patiently while I first lift Ella, then Music, then Olathea and
Lincoln into our once large king bed that is now full of Corgis, with a
little room left over for me. The dogs are very much a part of our family lives, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!”

FPotato theft? That shouldn't be so funny, but it is. I think that if I instituted such a liberal policy, Loki would look like a big potato within a week. My Corgi would simply polish of a twenty pound bag of potatoes and probably end up at the vet 'sick as a dog'. I hope that you never end up trying to explain to your vet how your babies scarfed down a bin full of raw vegetables. I give my dogs some corn on the cob this time of year because it is so much fun watching them clean the cob with beaver like speed and accuracy. But I cook it first. I see that your sweeties also get a rounded diet as they help harvest the tomato crop. I'll bet that your house is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Thanks so much for sharing. I am going to head over to your blog spot right now. Rebecca & LMPP

That's funny Rebecca. Olathea and Lincoln don't actually eat the potatoes…they just liberate them from the basket, and place them strategically for me to step on.

The dishwashers are here! And gardening, and rounding up buffalo. Is there any job too big for his dynamic duo? I enjoyed this blog and the pictures are great.

They don't eat the potatoes? Are you sure that they are Corgis? Perhaps they are in disguise and are really Whippets. Loki even eats the corn husk if she can get a piece! It is pure cellulose and it can't taste like anything. I have given up trying to understand the dietary habbits of my dog. (thankfully not coprophagy).. I am still stuck. I can't stop thinking, "they don't eat the potatoes?" " they really dont eat the potatoes?"
