Emmy Lou is an adorable, sassy female who came to Corgi Connection of Kansas from a breeder out of Missouri. She was surrendered to

Emmy Lou needs to find her furr-ever home soon, as she is growing

Emmy was initially shy but no longer a shrinking violet. “She’s a petite
little girl at about 20 pounds, but she has these huge, endearing “polar
bear” paws. She’s not big on going for walks, but is content to just wander
around the yard. She’s friendly to everyone she meets and is pretty
adaptable to various situations. Emmy Lou is doing well with
house-training. We no longer crate her and she knows how to use a
doggy door.”

“She has an umbilical hernia that’s not causing any issues, and has recently been diagnosed with luxating patellas. This condition, which makes her back end loose, isn’t currently painful but will not improve, so surgery is a possibility down the road, should it become painful. In the meantime, she’s a regular pup with a little extra challenge which doesn’t seem to bother her.”

Star’s Happy Ending Story (already adopted … just sharing the love!)
Corgi Connection of Kansas Rescue founder Jeanette DeMars says shelter dog Star came to her attention in the summer of 2011 through Lauranne Hess, one of her
volunteers in the Kansas City area. Seems Star had been adopted through the
same shelter over a year ago and was brought back. The people who
turned her in said they couldn’t get her house-trained, and at that time Star had no prospects of being adopted out again.

“We agreed to take Star and were mortified
when we got her” recalls Jeanette. “She weighed 56 pounds and had a urinary tract
infection. The infection was treated immediately and her foster

“We changed her diet and planned exercise. Owing to last summer’s excessive heat, however, Star’s activity had to be limited because of heat rash under her

down. In September, Star’s foster mom was busy preparing for a wedding, so Star came to live at the DeMars house with four other Corgis.”

“Star’s personality began to emerge as the
weight came off. She was quite hilarious. The looks she
could give said so much more than mere words. So often she wore a “Really … are you serious?” expression. Still, with all her progress there were no
applications to adopt her. It was impossible not to fall in love with

wasn’t for Star. The dog they were interested in had already been

I'm hoping a rescue Corgi comes up soon near me. Wish I could help the little girl in Kansas, but alas I'm too far away. Sigh!
