Lucky is a Corgi/Chow-Chow mix who appeared on The Daily Corgi as an adoptable back in October.
He ended up in a shelter two years ago, after his person went to live in a retirement home. Although his soft nine year-old ears and eyes had begun to fail him, Lucky could feel and enjoy the unmistakable love of the shelter staff, who adopted him as their resident mascot.
Given his health issues, and because he did not find an adoptive home, this beloved boy will likely live out the rest of his days at the Almost Home Pet Adoption Center in Lovingston, Virginia.
“Lucky is battling Cushing’s disease and hip problems” writes Almost Home’s Flower V. “Because he is no longer in the best of health, we are doing our best to make “Lucky’s Room” as comfortable as possible
for him with nice, cushy things to sleep on. Since Lucky loves to
play with toys, we plan to continue to buy him many. Since he loves
snacks too, we want to buy him several food puzzles and fill them with
nutritional but often expensive snacks. (Lucky should not gain any more
weight).”

“In spite of his challenges, he is the sweetest thing. Lucky retains his wag and will be very nice to you, as long as he notices you
approaching.”

“Please keep him in your good thoughts and prayers. Rest assured that all of us (staff and volunteers alike) at Almost Home
are loving him and enjoying the love he gives back to us. If you — or anyone
you know — would like to contribute to our no-kill shelter in honor of Lucky, donations may be sent directly to our shelter.”
