Meet Duchess, a gorgeous mature gal looking for that just right home to retire in. She loves attention but doesn’t mind spending time on her own, simply watching the world go by outside her window.
surrender just this past Sunday. The owners were finding it
more and more difficult to care for their two dogs since their human child
was diagnosed with a rare genetic terminal disease. They made
the heart-wrenching decision to surrender to rescue.
Even though she lived in a home with another dog, the Corgi Connection team aren’t completely certain of what the situation was. Most of the time, Duchess is content with her foster brother Cooper the Corgi, though she has been aggressive with him over attention and toys. She’s become attached to her foster Mom and isn’t fond of sharing her attention with him. Although they think a home where she can be the center of attention might be best for Duchess, Corgi Connection is holding final judgment until she’s been in her foster home a few weeks.
This beauty is up to date on all shots. Because she tested positive for heartworm, at the advice of the vet — and because of her age — Duchess is receiving the “slow kill method” of treatment. She’ll also be receiving a teeth cleaning and microchip on April 8th. She appears to have a little arthritis and been started on Cosequin tablets.
Corgi Connection of Kansas will adopt out of state. For more photos, see the Corgi Connection of Kansas facebook page and website. For more information or application, email Jeanette DeMars at jeanette@corgiconnection.com.

Here's hoping Duchess soon finds a new home. And prayers go out to her family who must be struggling so.
