Like any Corgi, Toby was the absolute light of his family’s lives.
Although they had him for less than three years before losing him to cancer, today would have been Toby’s third birthday, and his people Johna and Peter simply can’t imagine not celebrating it.
“I wanted to finally share our struggle over the last month and take the opportunity to share Toby and his birthday with this wonderful group of people and pups” says Johna. “We’re taking pupcakes to Toby’s favorite place — a doggie daycare — to share with all the dogs there, which seemed a fitting tribute.”
“After fighting the good fight for several months, we helped our sweet boy to the Bridge on Wednesday May 8th, 2013. We have wept along with the other families in The Daily Corgi community who lost their Corgis recently, but just couldn’t reveal our own pain until now. It seems like much of what’s been going on lately involves the loss of our wonderful Corgis, but it’s so nice to have the community for support. And all the happier stories really warm the heart.”
Johna and Peter, thank you for sharing Toby and his birthday with us. Happy Birthday, little man! You were a gift too short-lived, but every day you were here was a day you made this world a happier place. No doubt about it. Corgi love is the gift that keeps on giving.
Corgi On!

This breaks my heart. So sorry you had Toby with you for such a short time. I can hear in your words the love and joy you shared with each other. My sympathies to you and much joy as you celebrate all that Toby brought to your lives.

Johna and Peter: I feel so bad for you two, as I know the loss of you Corgi is a devastation. Take solace by knowing his 3 short years were happy years. Probably not yet time but as soon as you can find another little Corgi puppy who needs to win the puppy lottery and give him or her a wonderful home. Gretchen and I lost our Cody a little more than 7 years ago. Within a month we found an 8 week old litter. I cant tell you the absolute joy our little Ginger has been to us these last 7 years. Chin up – go find a (Corgi) pup.

So sorry 🙁
Laurie Eno, did Toby live in Pennsylvania? My corgi (Adventure's) father was named Toby. It just got me thinking…

I also lost my Nelson on May 8th…not a good day for either of us.
I am sure your Toby and my Nelson have become friends and will be waiting for us when we get there.
I am devastated by the loss but I try to remember all the good times as I am sure you are.
They are forever in our Hearts and Souls.
