Corgi Connection of Kansas is up to more of their usual terrific work — and then some. They’ve been bombarded lately with requests for owner surrenders, as well as keeping up on breeders shutting down and Corgis showing up in shelters. There’s so much happening there — and so much opportunity to help CCK help these Corgis — including a terrific auction for a custom commission portrait from hugely talented artist Heather Ackley!

First up, puppies. And puppy breath. (Use your imagination).
Ellie is the second pregnant female Corgi Connection welcomed to their fold this Summer. She had her pups in August; on October 9th these mixed cuties will be eight weeks old and ready for adoption to their forever homes.
There are more pups not pictured here. Guaranteed they are all as lovable! Read more about each of the pups on Petfinder, via CCK’s page HERE. Applications for these dogs can be made through the Corgi Connection of Kansas site HERE. E-mail Jeanette at jeanette@corgiconnection.com for more information.
Next up, Candy Cane! (CC for short).
Last week, CCK took in a female from another rescue in Kansas City. She arrived with two hernias and has since had repair surgery at Kansas State University’s Veterinary Health Center. She’s in the ICU now and monitored around the clock. CC is a sweetheart of a girl and seems pretty easy going around other dogs, even cats. CCK is hoping to find her furr-ever home shortly after her recovery time, which will be 3-4 weeks, barring any complications.
Little Ruby came to CCK a month ago. She had been hanging out in a neighborhood, eating scraps, living under trees and being fed by a sympathetic man for nearly a year! He called her Ruby and contacted CCK about getting her in to rescue.
The state of Kansas was able to persuade a breeder to give up her “stock” after much negotiating. CCK agreed to take in two young Corgis siblings, a brother and sister 18 – 24 months old.
“We were surprised to learn just how frightened, un-socialized and basically feral these two beautiful Corgis are. They too are going to be a very long term project — that’s presuming they can even be rehabilitated. They are being spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and everything else! We are hoping they will calm down after a few days as they had a very long journey for transport. For now we’re calling the girl Sunny and the boy Buckey.”
Right now Corgi Connection of Kansas is in real need of foster homes; if you live within a few hours of Milford, Kansas and have an interest in fostering, contact Jeanette for more information: jeanette@corgiconnection.com.

I adopted a Corgi/Border Collie mix who was close to feral 8 years ago from a foster home in Riley, KS. It took a year of a lot of patience, love and work but she completely made a turnaround. She loves getting lots of attention and is a great guard dog. Stick with it and your patience will be rewarded.

They are all so beautiful. It makes me sad that they have gone through such sadness, neglect and/or trauma in their lives. I wish I lived closer, I'd love to help out in some way. I see so many posts about the CCK…you do such good things. The corgis you find, foster and find a home for are so very, very lucky.
