Meet Ed and Bridey, who live on the beautiful New Hampshire seacoast, a quick trot from the ocean.
They have a love-hate relationship.
“But big brudder, I love you!”
“Go away kid. You bother me.”
(Not really loving this snow thing, either).
“What part of scram don’t you get?”
“The relationship is really love/hate/ignore” writes Karen D. “We adopted Bridey after our twenty year-old Cairn terrier died, when we thought Ed would be lonely and appreciate a new companion. When Ed and Bridey required some professional help working out whose responsibilty it was to answer the front door, the trainer let us know that Ed was not lonely.”
“He wasn’t interested in Bridey, or any other dog for that matter, and learned to deal with her because he understood that’s what we wanted.”
“In the five years they’ve lived together, however, Ed and Bridey have learned to get along. Ed always goes in and out of the doors first, unless he’s very tired after playing ball. Then he lets B. go first. Our Corgi kids have a shared love of biscuits, Barking at the Moon food, sleeping in the sun, riding in the car and The Daily Corgi.”
“Ed (a.k.a. Fred, Big Red and Eddie Spaghetti) is a senior Pisces (ten excellent years, thank you very much) who loves tennis, soccer and lacrosse. He enjoys playing fetch with mini tennis balls, but only if they squeak. During the Winter, he likes to play Corgi In the Middle. We throw the mini tennis ball back and forth down the length of the kitchen (one point in the air, two points on the floor, ten points between his legs).”
“I do not have a purple tongue. Yet.”
“Edward has allergies, so he takes half a Benadryl a day. He likes peanut butter but dislikes bananas and grapefruit. Wine makes him sneeze. He likes to forage for blackberries in the garden.”
“Five year-old Bridey is a black-headed tri who answers to Bridget, Bitey, B, Be Good, Be Nice and Oh Bridey, Behave.”
“If Bridey were human, she’d be the girl with pigtails askew and a goofy grin, a bit of gum stuck to her shoe. She is quick to learn new tricks but not so interested in repeating them. She doesn’t always come when called.”
“Bridey likes coffee and wine and barking at Ed. During the Summer she likes to toilet sit. She wraps herself around the ceramic base with her head on the tile.”
Hmmm, where have we seen THAT before?! Smart cookie!

Welcome to The Daily Corgi, Ed and Bridey!
You’re both perfectly Corgi-licious, in your own ways ;-).

Lita and Ein had this same relationship. She tolerated him. And when he was gone, she was a happy girl again. I'm glad that Ed and Bridey have "worked" on their relationship.
