No portion of the $5 entry fee is tax-deductible, nor is any additional money you donate on top of that for CorgiAid. Although CorgiAid is a 501(c)3 non-profit, I am acting only as an intermediary fundraiser and am in no way affiliated with CorgiAid.
Therefore, for tax purposes your payment does NOT qualify as a direct gift to CorgiAid. This means you can’t claim it as a charity contribution on your taxes next year.
Good karma, on the other hand, lasts FOREVER.

what percent of the $5 entry fee goes to CorgiAid?
what percent of the price to buy a calendar goes to CorgiAid?
Laurie Eno says
Hi Anonymous,
Good question, and one I'm glad to answer.
Out of the $5 entry fee, $3.50 goes directly on to CorgiAid. Most of what's left over goes directly towards the cost of having a professional graphic designer lay out the calendar. (A fellow Corgi person is generously doing that work a greatly reduced rate).
Many folks have been kind enough to send money above and beyond the $5 fee; anything above the required $5 goes fully on to CorgiAid, 100% of it.
As regards the percentage of the calendar price going to CorgiAid: The calendar will be produced on an on-demand basis by cafepress.com and available through The Daily Corgi's shop: (http://cafepress.com/thedailycorgi).
Profits in the shop are derived solely from mark-up-based commission beyond the base price. I haven't yet assigned a mark-up amount for the calendar, but when I do, 75% of that mark-up/commission will go directly to CorgiAid.
The reason I'm going with cafepress.com is their ability to produce a very high-quality product well worth the price, and handle the ins and outs of shipping, customer service and payment processing far better than I could on my own.
The 2011 Daily Corgi Calendar is a fundraiser project for CorgiAid; I am using the blog to leverage interest and particpation in it. The more entries there are and the more calendars are sold, the more money goes to CorgiAid (http://corgiaid.org).
I hope this answers your questions :-). If you have any further ones, please drop me a line!
