MISSING DOGS — South Carolina
I logged on to my e-mail this morning and saw this message from Corgi Mom/Corgi Grandmom Geannie G., whose family’s two Corgis went missing (TAKEN) from the yard of her home in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. It is a rural area and it would have been very un-like the dogs to take off on their own.
Trixie is the older female. She’s been a family member for a few years and is her Mom’s sweetheart. Trixie was close to going into heat. She’s microchipped and had on a red collar with tags.
Four year-old Yogi Boo is a hefty little guy at 35 pounds (of love). He’s also microchipped and had on an orange collar with tags. Yogi Boo was rescued last year.
Both dogs disappeared from the family home on Dove Lane, Ft. Inn (Knighton Chapel area), South Carolina on April 27th, 2010.
Can YOU suggest anything the family can do to make the return of their dogs more likely, or do you have any information about them?
Please contact Geannie at 864-684-5725 or 864-876-0089 if you can help.
THANK YOU!

It scares me that I hear about this more and more these days.. either from yards, hotel rooms or cars š Why would anyone think its ok to steal someone elses loved pet?
Laurie Eno says
Avyon, I'm afraid the answer to that question is money. Corgis are worth a good bit of money — though of course to us their worth is beyond ANY price. Clearly those who do this haven't any conscience or compassion in them.

I'm praying for a SAFE, and QUICK return. Hopefully the crook sees all the attention and hands the dogs back right away!

How heartbreaking…I hope they get home SOON. I'd be devastated. Hang in there Geannie, I'm sending prayers and Sidney is sending strong corgi vibes out your way.

Thank you to anyone that can get the word out about my missing babies. I do believe they were taken to be sold for profit, so as many states I can get my plea in, the better the chances are of getting them back. I have spent the last 2 night consoling my sobbing 12 year old daughter who is devastated that her dog is gone. Its heart wrenching. I don't understand how people can be so mean. And I can't imagine what my fur babies must be thinking or how scared they must be.
Bless you all for helping.

It's very sad that a dog isn't even safe in its own yard anymore. I hope these babies are returned to their loving family soon.

I am so sorry to hear this! Have you tried posting your message on mycorgi.com?

Geannie, I am so sorry to hear that someone would do that. I do hope that you find them safe and soon! You might want to check in with all of the corgi rescue clubs that you can find and let them know what happened. Don't forget about letting your local animal shelter know but since they are microchipped they should be able to find you if they somehow end up at the shelter.
I'll also do a post about your missing babies and direct them to this site.
Hugs and prayers!

Geannie, I am so sorry to hear about this. I urge you to check every classified section and craigslist not only for your area, but a good radius. Post a flyer on every community bulletin board you can find. I've even heard people call up the local news and radio stations and the broadcasters are usually good about making an announcement about missing pets.

Geannie, I'm so sorry about your dogs! I pray they'll be home safely soon. This web page has an action plan for finding a missing dog. Maybe it includes some ideas and resources you haven't tried yet:

If you have a social networking affiliation (such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.), send out the message there and ask your contacts to post the info, too. Info spreads quickly via these avenues and many people can be notified very quickly to keep an eye out. If you don't have an account yourself, ask around and you will probably find friends or family who do; ask them to send the word out.

I am so crazy happy to hear this wonderful news !

They were both in great shape. The nice lady that picked them up took good care of them. They were stolen, but dropped not too far from home. Maybe the two together in the cab of a small truck were just too much for the bad people! The lady saw them put out, then the truck almost run over them. She stopped to shoo them of the road and Trixie jumped in her car, so she just took them both home. I would have gotten them back sooner, but the phone number connected to the tag they were using to trace me was an old number. Remember to make sure your contact information is up to date! I'm just so grateful we have them back home. I don't think either one has ventured more than a few feet away from us since Thursday night.
