Jeanette DeMars of Corgi Connection in Milford, Kansas is looking for a temporary or permanent placement for Raider, an eight year-old male Pembroke Corgi. She is unable to take him right away into my rescue as she doesn’t have a foster home available. Raider is located in Wichita, Kansas and Corgi Connection is about two hours away in Milford, Kansas.
Raider is good with other dogs; housetrained and kennel trained, neutered, current on vaccinations; on heartworm preventative and flea and tick preventative. He has even been to obedience classes.
It seems Raider has “taken a dislike to his family’s three year old son, and they fear for the child’s safety and Raider’s happiness.”
In addition, Radar is in need of veterinary attention: according to Jeanette “he had a lump appear on his leg a while back and the couple had the lump removed. It has grown back and about this time I was contacted about trying to find a new home for the dog after the couple got the dog medically treated. She told me the vet said amputation would be the least expensive option and they were going to have it done when they had enough money saved up and then try to find him a new home. I asked the woman if she would put that off and consider sending me Raider’s medical records so that I might get another opinion and see if we could avoid amputating Raider’s right hind leg AND get his medical expenses paid for while trying to find him a new home.”
“Fast forward a few weeks and the couple thought they had a home for Raider. Fast forward again and the potential adopter did not work out AND they took him to the vet again who told them the lump, which is lymphoma according to them, did not have to be removed that it hadn’t grown that much; was not causing him pain and hampering his mobility. I don’t know if that’s good news or bad, so I’m desperately trying to find a new home for this boy so we can have him looked at by another vet for another opinion. I have some additional pictures of the lump itself in case someone wants to know what it looks like.”
“I believe this couple is truly trying to do what is best for Raider but they do have a child to keep in mind. If anyone can provide this boy with a home — either temporarily or would welcome him permanently — please contact me. I will see to it he is looked at by another vet for a second opinion and pay whatever medical expenses Corgi Connection can.”
