HUGE NEWS: DRIVE for FIVE RAISES $3,515!!!

After sixteen days, The Daily Corgi’s Drive for Five to fight DM has officially frapped past the finish line with total reader donations of $3,515!

I will be soon be sending the money to the AKC Canine Health Foundation, and afterwards keep you informed of when and where our dollars will be used to fight DM.

A reminder of how far your giving will go:

Our dollar amount qualifies us for GRANT SPONSORSHIP status with the AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF). 
This means our money will go much farther via the CHF’s cooperative funding model,  where a number of organizations come together to fund a single grant.
 From the CHF website:  “For example, if CHF funds a grant of $100,000, we might ask many clubs to sponsor the project at $2,500. Each club is then getting the benefits of $100,000 worth of research for only a $2,500 contribution. Of the $100,000, whatever portion is not funded by clubs and other organizations comes from other unrestricted contributions from individuals and corporate donors.”
According to Erika Werne of the CHF, “Although we have don’t have any active DM projects that are in need of funding right now, the deadline for new applications is March 1st, and I expect to see at least one come through.  Until that is funded, we could certainly hold the funds in a special account.”

Congratulations Corgi friends, we have officially made a difference for dogs with DM!!!

The drawing winners will be announced tomorrow (3/3) on the blog.  If you are a winner, I will also contact you via e-mail at the PayPal address from which you sent your donation.
