It’s Violet Ellen Davis-Johnson Day!

Last week, I posted about my niece Violet, the newest member of Paige D.’s clan.  Vi is a little Pembroke pupper. 

Because Paige runs The Daily Corgi’s “sister blog” CorgiPals, I wasted no time in claiming “Auntie rights” to both Violet Ellen and her big brother Dexter Jaymz!

When Paige got her first Corgi, Dexter, she “absolutely fell (more) in love with the breed.”

 As Dexter got older and more obedient, Paige toyed with the idea of getting another Corgi puppy. “Since I already had a boy, I knew I wanted a girl this time. I contacted Sandy (my breeder) a few months in advance and told her I was interested in another puppy. She was thrilled, since she knows how happy Dexter has made me and that we’re best friends.”

“The week after Easter I received a call from Sandy saying that a litter of four puppies had been born on April 22 … Good Friday! There were two boys (one tri and one red) and two girls (both red/sable, too early to really tell).”

“When I had inquired a year earlier about Dexter, I knew I wanted a red male, and he was the only one of his litter to fit that description, so to have my choice this time was really exciting!  My boyfriend Phil and I started gathering puppy supplies and thinking about names. It didn’t take long for us to settle on Violet.”

“When we got to see the puppies on June third, when they were six weeks old, it was hard to choose a “favorite” of the four. Sandy said we had first pick of any of the four pups that we wanted because she knew me and because I had called so many months in advance. They were all SO cute, but I stuck to my guns and limited our choice to one of the two girls. Phil and I agreed on the same little girl and then left to begin our LONG two week wait until we could bring her home.”

“She’s been with us for almost a week now, and things couldn’t be going better.”

“Dexter and Violet are the best of friends, and really enjoy playing together. He’s the best big brother I could have wanted for her.”

“Dex shares his toys, including the ones already in his mouth, and has barely left her side for the entire week.”

“Don’t underestimate Violet, and don’t let her size fool you!  She’s a little spitfire. Totally bossy and very much running the show.”

“Dexter has resigned himself to being second in command, but he’s still my number one guy and he knows it.”

“When she’s not napping, Violet really loves to drag her favorite stuffed cow around. She’s also an avid chewer, favoring tiny Dingos and the cow hoof she and her brother argue over, even though we have two.”

Kids …

Violet sleeps with her wee drummies crossed. 

She’s already mastered the frog dog / flying squirrel.
