Look at Also, he is positively blossoming!
According to his foster Ruthie Parton, Houston area rep for Dogs Deserve Better, “Also is happy, eating well, playing with my other foster and learning potty training. He is a smart, sweet boy who will make someone a great companion.”
Hard to believe this is the same dog who a few weeks ago was “chained to a tree, no food, no water and covered in filth. He could barely stand and was so covered in flees that he was actually actively bleeding from numerous areas due to the flea bites.”
Dogs Deserve Better is an award-winning non-profit organization fighting to unchain dogs through education, advocacy, services, and rescue …
… dogs like Also!
These folks are in the process of turning Michael Vick’s fighting dogs kennels into the Good Newz Rehab Center for Chained and Penned Dogs. They’ve got their loan and need funds to continue the work of building this state-of-the-art facility. Read more about this amazing project HERE, and take joy that this place of former hopelessness for so many dogs will be transformed into a place of hope and healing.
The good guys are winning — let’s get behind them, for the sake of the dogs!

“Thanks soooo much to all of you who donated for this boy’s treatment. He is doing well, he never leaves my side. He is eating heartily and plays with the others. We are working on house breaking. His eyes have gone from despair to delight. He needs neutering and HW treatment then he will be ready for his furever home. One of my colleagues has shown interest in him. Here are some pics. Please cross post.”

7/14, 4:35 PM Good News UPDATE:
The ChipIn fund for this rescued Corgi mix — whose name is “Also” — met and exceeded the $1,500 goal!
This money will be used for vet costs to stabilize him.
Just heard from Ruth, the woman who has him:
“Also looked sooooo defeated and I believe he’d given up hope when I got to him. Now his eyes are bright and he is happy.”
“He is home with me recovering. His blood level was 3 when I got him to the vet — normal is 13. He is flea free (that must feel wonderful for him). He had ear mites, skin infections, worms … he was a mess. He is a sweet boy. He is HW+ and food aggressive of course, but he craves human attention. He needs to be house trained but I know he will make someone a good pet. He gets along well with my other dogs. He has HUGE ears and a cute face: I will post pics when he is looking a bit better.”
