Only once in a very great while do I make an exception for a non-Corgi (even rarer a non-dog) on the blog. Since many of you know the story of friendship between Tarra and Bella of the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, however, I wanted to share their news.
Earlier this week, Bella lost her precious companion Tarra. Years of unlikely friendship between these two “different” creatures came to a close, on a day marked not just by sadness but also a final, undeniable act of love and care.
Read the story HERE.
Thank you Bella and Tarra for showing us miracles in the most unexpected of situations, and for proving beyond any doubt that humans are not the only creatures capable of love, friendship, emotion and attachment.
Thank you, wonderful “odd couple”, for letting us see with our own eyes how real those bonds are, no matter the form they take, and for reminding us that caring for you — and about you — is far more than an obligation.
It is a privilege.
Rest in peace, beautiful Tarra.
May your broken heart heal, Bella.

I cried the first time I heard of these dear creatures….and do so again this morning…

I remember when I first heard about these two and thought it was the sweetest thing to have an elephant and dog loving each other the way these two did. I'm so sorry to hear what happened to Tarra. It was a comfort knowing Bella was there and tried her best to help her best friend. I pray your pain will ease with the wonderful memories you have and that Bella will be comforted as well.
