Lizzie is all kinds of Corgi awesome: she’s the queen of her hive, very independent, super athletic, and has an alter-ego called “Nurse Cherry Jones” because she’s quite attentive to her people when they’re not feeling so hot.
She’s also a Daily Corgi alum: read her and brother Paden’s post HERE.
Unfortunately, last Thursday Lizzie’s hind legs kind of stopped working. She can drag them around and try and stand on them, but falls over. The vet thinks it’s degenerative myelopathy and gave her several shots, Rx meds and even acupuncture.
She seems to be doing a little better, but her whole family could use some encouragement, support and Corgi People Love right now.
Please leave your well wishes in the comments portion below or on the facebook page.
Thanks!
Laurie

Sending prayers from Australia. Have you requested an MRI of her lumbar spine from your DVM? Sounds like disc herniation to me

Wishing Lizzie well and a speedy recovery! Have you considered a dog chiropractor? I am not kidding, I have one for my corgi…before we saw him we had 3 veterinary opinions that were incorrect and his chiro keeps him up and running. Granted Elliot didn't have the same issue as Lizzie; however, the right chiropractor can do things for Lizzie that vets cannot. If you are in No. Cal. I can give you the name and number of my guy. If you are elsewhere, let me know and I can see if he has a referral. Don't give up. Hugs to Lizzie and her family and much love and healing, Aimy

Dear Lizzie,
Blue and I send you a huge basket of hugs and love! Hopefully this is something very temporary and you'll be back to normal in no time flat! We will be thinking of you and sending you Corgi love and kisses. Get better real soon!!!!!

I agree with the comment that it could be IVDD not DM. Degenerative Myelopathy I think comes on slowly; sudden loss of hind legs could be Intervertebral Disc Disease (which my corgi has – he had surgery in May 2011 for 2 herniated discs.)
I recommend dodgerslist.com for more information!

Lizzie, I'm praying this is only temporary and you can get back to your normal self. If not, maybe your family can look in to one of those carts for you. Sending plenty of prayers your way.
