Today is February 29th — a Leap Year “extra” day that only comes around every so often. What better day to feature two darling and unusual Corgi mixes with glamorous ebony coats?
This cutie would be the talk of your neighborhood. Hmmm, is there a slight resemblance to a black bear cub in that face? Aaaand how sweet is that?
This little one, finer boned than her sister, has the same speckled front paws and soulful caramel brown eyes. She might not bring your slippers and pipe, but she could make your house a home in no time flat!
How anybody has been able to resist these two for so long is a mystery to me. They’ve just celebrated their one year birthday in foster care; no doubt they’d welcome a belated gift of new people to love and call their own for many birthdays yet to come.
Mom was a Corgi and Dad was a … well, not sure who the Dad was, but I have a feeling a certain handsome black Lab might have done a little wooing. Ahem.
These distinctive girls — both spayed and up to date on vaccinations — love people, and kids are no problem. Their Petfinder page is here.
If you can’t resist (hard to resist, aren’t they?), visit the OK Save A Dog site and fill out an application to adopt.
Corgi (mix) On!
Lisa Harris says
Laurie, I have heard cats and dogs with black fur are the last to get adopted. I will praying for these two cuties to get a forever home soon. Labradoodles are such a big deal right now I would think anyone in their right mind would love the mix of lab and corgi. I imagine there are both sweet as can be.
Laurie Eno / The Daily Corgi says
Lisa,
Yes — that's called the "Black Dog" or "Black Cat" syndrome, and unfortunately it's real.
Some of the sweetest dogs I've ever met have had beautiful black coats. If people can be encouraged to see the natural beauty of these animals, things change.
These two are very striking!
