Meet Scooter, a four year-old (estimated) Pembroke male currently in foster care in the Dayton (Fairborn), Ohio area.
Scooter has a little bit of a tail – and it never stops wagging. He obviously wants to please humans, but it seems as though he’s still getting used to the benefits of human attention.
Jennifer R. of the Ohio Valley Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club rescue group says Scooter was quite “ouchy” at first when anybody wanted to touch him along his back or over his rear. “He came from the pound “terrified”, with a severe skin infection we believe followed an untreated reaction to a flea allergy. Once he was bathed and medicated, Scooter was fine with being handled, though he is still losing hair in small clumps and there is still a bit of red skin. He is very happy to have his fosters touching him anywhere on his body; they suspect that he never had much “hands on” care in his prior life.”
“Scooter is up to date on shots, flea free, has had his rabies shot, is heart worm clear and on monthly medication. He needs to stay flea FREE.”
“He’s been fine with cats, adult humans and other dogs. He hasn’t been around children under twelve while in foster care. If you have well-mannered kids you are welcome to be considered for him and we can all learn how he likes children over five at the meet and greet that will take place at the foster’s home before adoption is permitted. Scooter makes a good house dog along with the other dogs when the foster is off to work. No destruction and 100% housebroken from the start. He is learning the commands of come, wait, sit and back but since he apparently lacked experience with human interactions, he is not “solid” on any of them. Scooter walks well on leash and enjoys going for walks and outings.”
“At first he did some resource guarding with his food towards the other dog in the foster’s household. However he didn’t react when the foster human removed food from him. Since he knows he’s going to be getting fed and allowed to gain a bit more weight, he is no longer resource guarding.”
“Scooter would do well in a home with a dog or dogs who will play with him, and where the humans have plenty of time to make sure he knows he is loved as an individual too. He has turned into a really friendly, happy guy!”

Scooter sounds like so much fun and he is just handsome. I have relatives that live in that area and I'm half tempted to tell them to go snag him! I pray he finds a forever home quickly.

The adoption agency charges a $250 fee. I would seriously consider adopting him to live with my other little boy, a Cardigan mix, also 4 years old,but I cannot afford that. I hope they find someone who can…I'm sure he's well worth it.
