A week or so ago on The Daily Corgi’s facebook page, I asked what your Corgis do to make you giggle. Dozens of responses came in, making it hard to select just a handful for the blog. Following are some of the highlights, the ones that made me smile wider, nod my head and say “That’s SO Corgi!”
If you have your own anecdotes to share, please leave them in the comments for a future post!
“Ronin
and Arya like to play tug of war, but it usually ends with Ronin
flopping onto his side and Arya pulling him across the carpet. Makes me
giggle like a school girl!”
— Kristen W.
“Mine only barks at one person — my brother in law!”
— Dale T.
“Bully
tries to be invisible unless he wants something. Sometimes if he
wants to listen to us and not be too “front and center” he’ll go halfway up
the stairs in our family room and poke his face through the banister slats.
He’ll just stay there watching us, even if we talk to him. We think
he thinks he’s invisible or something!”
— Laurie B.
“Carmel sometimes tries to hide under a blanket or behind a chair,
but his tail is always poking out. I say “Oh, where’s my boy?” and
his tail is going 90 mph giving him away. He’s a goofball.”
— Heather W.
“We are Alabama football fans and if we say “roll Tide”, Higgins goes crazy barking!”
— Kim E.
“Kimball
sees a dog at the end of the bed! He growls when he sees him in the
mirror, clearly unhappy I let this dog
in. I laugh so hard I cry.”
— Hope P.
“My
youngest Corgi Lexi sneak attacks! She will be laying beside me on
the couch when suddenly she’s jumping up from the back of the couch to give me kisses. It always cracks me up, and the more I laugh, the more
she does it! Just watching my Cardigans Lexi and Jenny playing together always makes
me laugh. They’re so goofy!”
— Michelle L.
“Zach
plays peekaboo. He hides his face by himself. When we ask “Where’s
Zach?” he pops his head out and waits for us to say “There he is!”
Then he starts the whole game again. It gets me every time. Silly Corgi!”
— Pamela H.
“Miss
Daisy licks her lips every time she hears the words “peanut
butter”. It’s priceless (and her most favorite bedtime snack!)”
— Nickole O.
“Rigby
does something that we call the “pendulum” when she is play fighting
with other dogs or the cat. She uses her Corgi butt as a weapon by
slinging around and knocking the other dog in the face. It’s hilarious.
Sometimes she will do it really slowly, which is even funnier.”
— Amber G.
“We have a new kitten who plays ambush constantly with our Corgi. They’re quite evenly matched. It’s hilarious.”
— Marybeth L.
“Charlie
Marie LOVES to chase her tennis ball! Sometimes she likes to roll it
around and chase it on the tile floors. She thinks
she has to do it with a toy in her mouth, so she picks up whatever toy is
close by to maneuver the ball around. It is so comical
because sometimes the toy Charlie Marie chooses is so big (or small), it would be
much simpler to use her nose!”
— Ron and Kathy K.
Today’s post is a part of the Pets Add Life
campaign, designed to drive increased adoption, demonstrate the joys and benefits of pet
ownership, and promote responsible ownership of
pets.
As a Corgi blogger, the joy piece of that message is a snap to cover. Lovable low-riders can laugh us all the way to the other side of rainy days, troubles and disappointments.
Check out the family-friendly Pets Add Life youtube channel, featuring of all sorts of critters doing the critter-y things they do that make us smile, with a few voice-overs (talking cats and guinea pig, anybody?) Oh, and their blog is a nice read full of feel good and informative stuff.
But wait, there’s MORE!
Now through January 31st, Pets Add Life is running their 5th Annual Children’s Poetry Contest for third through eighth graders. Six young writers who pen a poem about the joy their pets add to their lives will win these paw-some prizes: A $1,000 scholarship for their classroom, a $250 gift certificate for pet products, and a “byline” in a nationally circulated magazine! Read all about the contest HERE and spread the love by sharing it with all the pet loving kids you know — their parents and teachers too.
The people at Pets Add Life are truly putting their money to work for animals with their Help A Shelter Out facebook contest. The winning shelter gets $10,000, with additional cash prizes for runners-up. Phenomenal stuff! To vote for a shelter, click HERE. Voting ends 11/16 and winners will be announced on National Get a Pal for Your Pet Day, 11/19! Hop to it, time’s a wastin’!
Now go out there and grab yourself some dog happy!
p.s. Pets Add Life and the American Pet Products Association have compensated me for this post, but it’s so fun I’d have probably done it even without the money. (Shhhh, don’t tell them!)

Whenever a box comes in the mail, my Reilly barks and carries on until the box is opened, then he hops up and down until he can grab any of those rolls of plastic air pockets used to cushion the box contents and runs around the living room with them, popping them as he goes. One box had a particularly long green string of them, and he rolled around in them barking and popping like mad – so glad I had a camera nearby for that one!

Shyla (Miss Prissy Pants) is a rescue from a puppy mill. The cat enjoys tomenting her, to the point that if she's going to walk across the room, she gives the cat a VERY WIDE berth. FUnny thing is that the cat is not only declawed, but is BIGGER than Shyla. She's a doll, though, and we wouldn't trade her for a million dollars!
