Today’s adoptable has seen some of the worst neglect a dog can endure. In spite of her ordeal, Abbey retains her good nature and love of life.
Jeanette D. of Corgi Connection of Kansas on how this darling girl came in to rescue:
“Abbey’s former owners took her to the vet for boarding about a month ago, where the staff noticed her
bum was all matted and dirty. Her owners of six years explained that “inside dog” Abbey had
diarrhea and was getting hosed off after every
accident. They had never bothered to bring her in for treatment! When the staff shaved Abbey’s
bum, they discovered maggots emerging from several holes in her skin.”

“They also saw her
teeth were beyond dirty and infection had set in. One vet told me
they had recommended Abbey have dental care, but the owners never did anything about it. Her toenails had grown to the point of actually overlapping each other.”

“After discovering the condition of her bum, the veterinary staff asked the owners if they would sign her over to
them, for the sake of her well-being. The owners agreed — what a relief from the burden of guilt!”

“While she does
seem to have a sensitive stomach, Abbey’s diarrhea has cleared. Her bottom
is healing and her teeth have been checked. She had seven extractions and is
no longer on any medication! She seems to be perfectly healthy.”

“After several weeks at the vet clinic where she got to hang out in the office, twelve year-old Abbey has been moved to a Corgi Connection of Kansas foster home and is faring wonderfully! She gets along fine with other dogs, a cat and children, although I
would not recommend her for a home with small children. Abbey is available for adoption and deserves to spend her remaining years cared for properly and in a clean and loving environment.”

“She’s such a sweet, happy girl and has been through so much. We can’t imagine anyone neglecting her so terribly.”

Corgi On, Abbey!
Little Miss Pudgy Paws says
First I cry. Then I want snorgile* her, and dry my tears in her sweet furry corgi fluff. Then I cry some more.
* snorgile: a combination of smooch, snuggle, cradle, and hug. (To the best of my knowledge, I made it up. Although there is a possibility that I have inadvertently plagiarized.)
Back to the important stuff; I want Abbey to be incessantly snorgilled so that she feels warm and secure and loved. 'Cause she deserves it! And now for more tears. It is just so sad that she was treated so horrifically.

Bless the veterinary clinic and the staff for persisting in this little one's life. Abbey's face seems to be expressing complete relief and gratitude. Now for a calm, loving home with lots of "snorgiling"!!

How about we hose off the previous owners? Thank God for the vet staff for intervening on sweet Abbey's behalf.

Little Miss Pudgy Paws,
I think SNORGILE is one of the most wonderful words I've heard in a long, long time.
I might just use it … with your permission of course!
