Or out of them, more like. Because look who got his stitches out just this very morning. Toby the Hero!
That face says it all. He knew the jig was UP on those scritchy scratchy itchy stitches. With his appetite back and his antibiotics finished, there was only one thing left to do. Those pesky things were on their way over and out. They had burned his biscuits long enough!
VICTORY! Settling in for the ride home. Shirtless, stitch-less, as furry and naked as the day God made him, that is one hap-hap-happy Corgi, right there. And hasn’t he come a long way in a month?
“You’re darn tootin'” says the dog of the hour. “And let that be a lesson to you. Don’t mess with a Corgi. We take care of our own”. Indeed.
Little brother Tucker is all smiles. We’ve all seen him worried, but those are some smiling eyes! Things are back to normal on the home front.
The boys got MORE toys and treats in the mail this week. (I kid you not). They have toys and treats enough to last them a while, but there’s no such thing as TOO many, is there? And how would we know that, anyway? (Ooops, Kong addiction. There is always the danger. Tucker is managing nicely, now that Toby is around to snoopervise All Things That Matter, and even some that don’t).
These are just some of the cards the veterinary staff at Toby’s hospital have received from his fans. I would say they’ve gone to the dogs, but that’s too obvious a pun even for ME. I’ll just add my thanks and admiration to that dedicated bunch.
Mostly, I want to thank YOU for everything you’ve done to make this happen. Hundreds of strangers cared enough to reach out, proving (once again — let’s say it together) that the world really isn’t going to you-know-where in a hand basket. Nope! Not yet anyway! Let a few people know about this great thing that’s happened, and help them to see that if you can do it, so can they. Sounds cliched, but isn’t it true?
Just ask the Corgi who did HIS one thing at a time. To the stubby legged go the race!
Yours in holiday cheer,
Laurie Eno

Toby, the Austin Four are sending Corgi love your way. I always read your updates to them. And, then tell them how great it is that you are getting well. They all bark and run around, then have a mini milk bone in your honor. Merry Christmas to you and Tucker.
