Daily Corgi Exclusive!
Well, a funny thing happened at the 2014 AKC National Agility Championships … Porter won! Yes, my dog Porter won the 4″ Preferred division!
I am still so shocked, and pretty excited.
It wasn’t easy (Porter and I never do things the easy way), but we fought our way to the top! After Porter started the weekend by taking an extra jump in the Time 2 Beat round, he rallied back for the first official round and had a clean run. He ran clean again in Round 2, placing 3rd. In Round 3, our weave pole curse struck. I gave him a pretty bad entry, causing him to come out of them. We re-did the poles and finished strong, but it was enough to knock us out of going to Finals.
Fortunately, Porter ran well enough in the first 2 rounds to earn a spot in the Challenger’s round. We had to be clean and fast to win, and just barely squeaked by fellow Team Daily members Becky and Maddie for the win!
Porter’s final run.
We had a short break before competing in Finals. Porter and I laid it all on the line and had a smoking fast (and clean) run. Our score held up, earning Porter the Championship! I could hear Megan, our fellow Team Daily Corgi member, shrieking from the stands. We took our victory lap and Porter ate up the applause!
It was an unforgettable day! Porter and I are both still exhausted, physically and emotionally.
Thank you to Team Daily Corgi for supporting us on this journey & cheering us on! #StumpsOfFury!
