Stress can do funny things to a brain, can’t it?
In my case, the extreme duress of watching Kitten Girl wither in plain sight these past few weeks has affected my balance. Sure-footedness of every sort has managed to escape largely undetected, leaving in its wake near total haplessness. Which might explain why I fell and landed on my laptop two days ago.
It is now officially toast. The warranty doesn’t cover acts of God or the grief-stricken hapless, apparently.
So I work temporarily from a tablet, if you can call myopic typing on a not-real keyboard a form of work, blithely ignoring that tablets must surely be the invention of an unmitigated moron bent on revenge. Against the 40+ aged among us.
My point (yes there is one) is that I have posted about Kittten Girl on facebook one last time (prior to tonight’s planned passing). And because my utter uselessness with a tablet prevents me from copying and pasting it here, I offer instead the link to that post.
(Warning: this has made a few folks cry).

Thank you for walking this last mile with us.

Just so, so sorry to hear of this loss Laurie. It has been very brave of you to share this journey via TDC as it is something that almost all of us have to go through. Oh – these companions of ours! They steal our hearts but they also make our hearts so much bigger. Send all good thoughts to you with the caution to be good to yourself as you must be exhausted. Kitten Girl was a lucky, lucky girl indeed!

Laurie….I hope you see your beautiful lass in every sunbeam, and know she is reaching down to let you know she isn't as far away from you as it seems. You are both fortunate to have shared 18 years together. Her footprints on your hears will always keep her in your memories. Peace, peace, peace, in the days ahead.
