Meet Bella.
Right now she and her family are in need of some serious support from the Corgi community.
Last Fall, two year-old Bella was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN). The trigeminal nerve in her face is damaged and her mouth hangs open. She’s currently being treated by a neurologist, who says in almost all cases TN is idiopathic, just happens for no reason and goes away as quickly as it started.
Seven months have passed and she’s gotten worse. Bella has lost all muscle tone in her face, her eyes are sunken, and she has extreme trouble eating and drinking. The good thing is that she still has sensation and isn’t in pain. Bella’s neurologist said she has never seen a case go on this long with no improvement.
(Taken a week ago).
Bella’s Mom Sandi says “the vet recommends a battery of tests to rule out cancers and blood diseases, and the cost of these is estimated at 2000-$3500.”
“There is no way we can cover this, and there is no way I’m putting Bella down!”
Poor Bella’s bad luck multiplied again yesterday when Sandi found a mass on Bella’s groin area and went back to the vet right away. They did an ultrasound and couldn’t identify it so the vet used a syringe to get a sample, but they have no idea what it is. The vet said it doesn’t look like any cancer she is familiar with and she was going to ask some of the other vets look at it. For now, Bella is on antiobiotics. That’s a good sign, but it’s still too early to tell.

Corgi friends, please visit Bella’s page HERE at CorgiPals — a fantastic site built and run by Daily Corgi reader/animal advocate Paige Davis — and consider donating to help defray the costs of helping Bella through the Chip In fund set up on that page.
Paige has done the footwork of verifying Bella’s situation (diagnosis, estimated costs) with the vet’s office directly, as I have done in the past with appeals for help here on The Daily Corgi. I know Paige and trust her. Because Corgi People are so generous, we are careful to make sure that all donations are made to legitimate situations and needs.
There are thousands of us in this on-line Corgi community. I know for sure that together we can make a real difference for Bella and her family. NO amount is too small. Five dollars or fifteen … it truly is the intention that matters here. Our strength is in our numbers; it always has been and will be.
If you cannot donate at this time, know that your prayers for healing and supportive thoughts are welcome and will have a positive impact, too. Your spreading the word will make a big difference as well!
Please be a part of helping Bella back to the health and happiness she deserves!

I sent in a donation this morning and I'm sending all of my hopes and wishes for Bella's recovery. My dog Lucky had a mass in her liver and she had surgery to remove it in December '10. Sometimes it is just better to remove the mass. Her tumor had a needle aspiration and two biopsies come back as negative. When the tumor was removed and a slice biopsy was done, it proved to be malignant. My dog is still recovering, but we are glad we did the surgery.

I chipped in! Dear Sweet Bella – do get well soon.

Bella needs to see a animal chiropracter! If she has a nerve being pinched off in her upper neck then the condition wont improve – please have her seen. You can find animal chiropracters on the AVCA website for your area – please take a look!
