Before his folks got him a couple of dog buddies, young Race tried to eat the outside of their house. “He came to us as a potty and crate trained puppy, but he loved to chew and was easily bored” says Mom Martine F. “Both of us work all day and he was home alone without anything to do.”
“He isn’t a big fan of toys. We eventually got wise and chicken wired the house to stop him from destroying it.”
“Before Race (Little Black Race Car), we’d always had Rottweilers, but wanted to downsize. When my husband ran into a Corgi at work, he fell in love. We tried the rescue route, waited a year, then decided on Race. He was seven months old and still with his breeder in Arizona. It was love at first sight.”
“We took him to obedience classes held at our Humane Society, where my husband went to look at the dogs for adoption. There was a seven year-old Rottie with hip dsyplasia and bad elbows that had been there for four months. Guess who didn’t downsize!”
“Turns out Misha the Rottie was too old to play with Race, so we got him Sadie, our Craigslist girl.”
“He thoroughly enjoys his walks and visits to the beach. We tried training him to ride a surfboard but that didn’t go over too well. My husband recently took up paddle boarding and he took him out on that, which was pretty cute.”
“Race is now five and-a-half years old. They say Cardigan Welsh Corgis are the clowns of the dog world, and we have to agree. Everybody who meets him gets a big smile on their face. He is so sweet and brings us plenty of laughter. We love him!”
Welcome to The Daily Corgi, Race! You are one handsome beast!

Holy Cow! We have a Cardi and a Rotti too! Mr. Spock (the Corg) and Peaches (the Rott) grew up together. They are both 9 years old. Race, Misha and Sadie are adorable 🙂
