Thanks to some concerned neighbors and a special lady at the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter, short stuff here has since found himself a place where he is King of Hearts and gets to cuddle and sit as close to his people as possible, even if that means he’s right on top of them. He lives with a loving couple who say this once-rejected Corgi has saved them, not the other way around.
“Dookster was in
terrible shape” says Jessica T. “When he got the call about him, my boyfriend EJ dropped everything and picked him up as a second anniversary gift for me.”
“Dookster was scared, malnourished and needed a bath badly. He has severe separation anxiety issues, is afraid of the dark, and had been treated pretty poorly. Dookster (aka Mr. Handsome, Uncle Gazpachio, turkey butt) has a slit on his right ear and had fleas long enough to cause a incurable
skin condition. With regular oatmeal baths it’s nearly unnoticable.”
With all the love and attention he now has, three year-old Dookster
looks better than he ever has. “He
never barks. He’s quiet yet energetic, behaves wonderfully, and after a
weeks’ time was house trained. We’re so happy Dookster isn’t miserable anymore!”
patience. He makes us want to be better and proactive towards the
adoption and care of Corgis everywhere. That’s Dookster’s story.”
And what a story it is.

How could anyone abandon lovely Dookster? Now at least he is in a lovely forever home. Well done all. Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly

How could anyone do that to a dog as handsome as Dookster? I'm so glad he has the kind of home that every Corgi…every dog…deserves.
Judy says
Wow, I can't imagine just leaving a dog like that. Congrats on the caring people who love him today-he looks healthy and happy.

How could anyone leave that beautiful intelligent dog alone in a home, for who knows how long? They should be punished for 3 times the amount of pain and suffering he went thru. Look at what love and attention will do to these blessed animals. Thanks be to the wonderful people who adopted him.

How could anyone leave such a beautiful intelligent animal behind when they move, AND locked inside a home. They should be punished 3 fold for what they did to him. Thanks be to the wonderful people who adopted him and fell in love with him.

I'd just like to give on the barking. hes becoming less shy and defintely barks but only when he needs help with getting a ball or when hes on guard. but he does not go crazy with the barking. it has yet to be come an issue, i'm just glad hes become more animated over time.

Dookster looks so happy smiling!
I completely agree with Laurie, "What on earth fills the space where those peoples' hearts should have been?"
I do not understand people sometimes but Dookster was meant to be with his "rescued" family with all the love that they give him now and will always!
