Meet Ziggy, part Cardigan Welsh Corgi, part Australian Shepherd, 100% Grade A ham.
As a college student three years ago, his Mom Alice U. plucked Ziggy from a rescued litter in Richland Center, Wisconsin. He was the lone black and white boy in a litter of four, competing with his three his tan and white sisters.
Love at first sight? You bet! (And yes, he loves getting dressed up. No dogs were embarassed in the staging of this photo).
“The
first few nights were tough” writes Alice. “Crying, no sleep
and the uncertainty of a strange house. After
only one week, my little hot dog was potty trained and adapted to his new college life, with the help of many happy puppy
sitters, a new house to play in and and tons of long walks.”

“After graduation Ziggy and I moved to Milwaukee, where I took a demanding teaching job. Ziggy
split time between my new apartment and my parents’ house, where he enjoyed playing in their big backyard, playing fetch and
meeting new dogs in the neighborhood.”

“Ziggy
and I share a special bond. He was my first “very own” dog. I LOVE to
dress him up, and although he’s not a lap dog, we just seem to understand each other well enough to make it work.”

“I’m a big advocate for rescue dogs and truly think it’s the
way to go. You really can land such a wonderful friend. Every dog has
their own special traits that make them just great. I’m really excited to see Ziggy as Dog of the Day!”

Me too, Alice. Me too!

Oh, Ziggy, you are adorable and so willing to sit for the camera. I LOVE that "no dogs were embarrassed…"
