Happy 4th of July Birthday to Tobias the Great!

Tobi’s folks Lisa and Christopher had always wanted a Corgi.  After moving to NYC, they decided to have their first (fur) kid …

 

Born July 4th, 2008

 

Every year on July 4th, Tobi thinks the fireworks are for just for him.  “It doesn’t help that we tell him “Mommy and Daddy paid lots of money for your lights on your special day!”

According to his Mom, “From the beginning, Tobi was VERY independent. You weren’t allowed to snuggle with him, but he was allowed to snuggle with you (and you better stay put!) Any movement on your part and he’d go across the room to pass out elsewhere.”

“For a while I was resigned to love him from afar (“As long as he’s happy and healthy that’s all I care about!”), but as the months went by things began to change. Just do what Mommy tells you and only talk back to Dad.  I guess that’s what happens when you’re a full time Mom for a while and Daddy is busy with school.”

 

 “Tobi now loves his Dad dearly …

… and is a complete Momma’s Boy!”

“Everyone should have a Corgi in their life.  Tobi fills our days with so much joy, love, silliness and Corgi-tude. Every morning we wake up to this face.”

(Maaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Wake up!!!!)

“No sooner do we say “Good morning, Son!” than his tongue is shoved down our throats, followed by wet kisses and ear nibbles.  Then  he reminds us it’s time for nomz by nosing at our faces, jumping on us, spinning in circles and of course … the crazy eye!”

“Tobi’s days are filled with playtime, walks and plenty of naps.”

He fits regular swim lessons into the schedule, too!

 

What boots?  I don’t see any boots!

 

“He has his introspective moments too.  Perhaps he’s an old soul … or secretly plotting maneuvers for retrieval of extra nomz?”

“Tobias is such a wonderful boy.  He loves people, kids and anything that moves.  If you’re having a rough day, he’ll kiss you, put his paw on your heart and use his nose to nudge at your face with kisses, as if to say “pucker up you have ME!”  I hope he’s happy with us and can’t imagine having any other parents.”

“Even if we do make him dress silly every so often.”

“For his birthday, I thought “What better way to celebrate than to let the world know how great he is?” So this is for Tobi. Because of him, our lives are forever changed for the better.” 

“Thank you for letting me be your Mom, and letting me experience your heartbreakingly cute puppyhood, your mischievous adolescent years, and all the great years ahead!”

P.S.  We’ll be welcoming a sibling for Tobi in the Fall:  an (eventually) 200 pound Leonberger (a.k.a snuggle bear, gentle giant, babysitter).  Shhhhh … Tobi has no idea what’s coming!
